Is the silicone water bottle suitable for daily use? Especially, will it produce toxic substances after being disinfected with boiling water?
Food-grade silicone water bottles are fully suitable for daily use. The material is chemically stable, non-toxic, odorless, BPA-free, and has a wide temperature range (-50°C to 200°C), easily handling both cold drinks and boiling-water disinfection.
Regarding boiling-water safety: no toxic substances are released if done correctly. Remove all plastic parts (caps, seals) before boiling, and boil only the silicone body for 5–10 minutes. Certified silicone does not decompose at 100°C. Risks only come from non-food-grade or low-quality products that may contain industrial fillers. Always choose items with FDA or LFGB certification.
For maintenance: wash with mild detergent before first use, then boil briefly; sterilize 1–2 times weekly; rinse promptly after each use; clean with a soft sponge (no steel wool); replace if the bottle becomes hard, discolored, or cracked—typically every 1–2 years. In short, a high-quality silicone bottle, used correctly, is a safe and eco-friendly daily hydration choice.
